Book Launch - Tragedies of Clare by Joe Queally

Cois na hAbhna – Monday 25th May, 7pm

Join us for the launch of Tragedies of Clare, the latest work by acclaimed local historian Joe Queally.

Joe Queally is widely recognised for his distinctive approach to locally based historical writing, bringing to life the people, events, and communities of County Clare. His new book explores stories from the Land War period and the years surrounding the Easter Rising, offering a powerful insight into a turbulent time in Irish history.

Building on earlier works such as Echoes from a Civil War, Joe captures the lived experiences of individuals, families, and communities—stories that are deeply rooted in Clare, yet resonate with universal human themes.

Drawing on archival sources, newspaper accounts, and the rich oral traditions of older generations, his writing reflects both a deep understanding of history and a genuine affection for a way of life now largely past.

This new collection marks a further evolution in his work and is sure to be of great interest to readers of local history and beyond.

All are welcome to attend this special evening celebrating the launch of Tragedies of Clare.

Join author Joe Queally for the launch of Tragedies of Clare, a compelling collection exploring some of the most poignant and lesser-known events in County Clare’s history. This special Fleadh Nua event offers a unique opportunity to hear the stories behind the book and meet the author.
