The Fleadh Down In Ennis

Fleadh Nua 2023 Programme

CD Launches

CD launches are great craic and great entertainment. This year we have a varied programme of launches and we are grateful as always to the Queens Hotel.

Bobby Gardiner 'Melodeon Mad' - Sat 26th 3pm
Bobby is one of Ireland's most celebrated accordion and melodeon players, and is also notable as a lilter. Originally from Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, he spent many years in America before eventually returning to Ireland and settling in Tipperary. Bobby's style and personality have endeared him to audiences all over the world and his latest CD is a real masterpiece.

Noel Bermingham 'When The Tide Is Out' - Sat 26th 5pm
From Doonbeg in West Clare, Noel will launch his new CD, 'When The Tide Is Out'. It is surprising that Noel, a winner of the All Ireland on the banjo on three occasions and a member of the Comhaltas Tour of America in 1986 has taken so long to record a CD. However, it has certainly been worth the wait!

Torres - Sun 27th 3pm

Torrek fuses Irish traditional music with Icelandic folk songs, bringing together two sets of siblings from the outlands of the Old World: Eoghan & Flaithrí Neff deliver "extreme fiddling", with "virtuoso playing" on pipes and whistles; while Atli Örvarsson & Hilda Örvarsdótirr infuse cinematic scoring with a voice of "cut-glass tones ... of innocence and purity".

Steph Geremia 'Up She Flew' - Sun 27th 5pm
Steph Geremia, traditional flautist and singer, is recognised as a vibrant and versatile face on the traditional music scene. Her 2009 debut album, 'The Open Road', named as one of Folk World's 'top ten trad albums', received critical acclaim at home and abroad, establishing Steph as an internationally distinguished flautist. After nearly a decade, we are delighted to welcome the release of Steph Geremia's highly anticipated second solo album, 'Up She Flew'...

Los Paddys 'Fly to Las Pampas' - Sun 27th 10.30pm
Los Paddys de las Pampas is a musical group that explores Irish music as a form of identity and exchange in Ireland and South America. The project started when Paddy Mulcahy and Tessa O'Connor spent two months in Buenos Aires in early 2012 exploring Irish music playing there and forging links with the Irish community in the city. Join Los Paddys in Cruises Bar for the launch of their latest CD.
